Résumé :
|
Pierre Huyghe (1962) is one of the best-known young artists on the contemporary international art stage. His fame is tied specifically to the installations, films, collective projects and performances which he has been involved in since the beginning of 1990s, works which incessantly interrogate the collective imagination and the narrative structures through which it operates.
The retrospective is the first of its kind dedicated to a French artist in an Italian museum and the monograph to the show, edited by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, focuses on Float, the new work-installation conceived especially for the Castello di Rivoli; the museums exhibition space is translated into a great inflatable procession cart that is brought to the museum, almost a pop-up that pokes through the walls of the eighteenth-century building. Presented alongside this work is a selection of some of the artists most symbolic pieces, including Blance Neige Lucie (1997), Sleeptalking (1998), No Ghost Just a Shell (2000-2003), Les Grands Ensembles (2000) and LExpédition scintillante Acte II (2002).
