Résumé : |
"You get an idea or conception of what you think art should be. Its kind of complicated how you receive it, because you receive a lot from just thinking about it, and other things pop into it. So, I would say, how you arrive at a conceptual basis is as intuitive as anything else, and how you direct that conception to a material object is complicated, because you try, and it fails, and you try, and its off, and you try this, and you try that, and it works, finally, something works, and youve just stumbled your way into it.
Alex Katz "For Bonvicini titles are concrete, practical equivalents or absurd allegories. One way or another, language and built structures are positioned next to and on top of each other, abruptly engaging in blatant acts like the protagonists in a choreographed porn scenario. Fractured quotes and voiceless material mutually transform: it is as though words and sentences were materializing, developing a physical presence on the wall, in the dust, rigidified into fragmented letters; it is as though built structures were, in return, soaking up syntax and signification. Jörg Heiser "Wow! What a show! A real tour de force. I didnt want to leave. And when I did, finally, I left knowing that I had encountered an artist of mad ambition whose work revelatory with inspired conjunctions and dazzling invention, the product of incredibly demanding labor carried out in a spirit of play casts a spell of fairy-tale enchantment. Brenda Richardson "He owns concretely. He owns the stuff of his (and our cultures) dreams houses, rare books, and cars and he turns that stuff into art by hijacking their images. He acquired all that he has by taking aesthetic possession. His work, by employing a canny approach to the mediated image, takes abstract ownership of a type of imagery that deals with desire and consumption. Dike Blair [parkettart.com] |
